project life 2014 – week 42

week 42 sneak
Welcome to Project Life – Week 42! Simple for the win this week. For the left side, I paired a few snapshots with the Collect Photo App and a little text for some of the cards and added cards from the digital version of the Sunshine Edition. I filled the right side with photographs of Lance and his teammates from our soccer game.

project life 2014 – disney week

disney sneak

Welcome to Project Life – Disney Week! You know I’ve been using my phone and the Project Life App for about a month. I seriously had no idea I’d get this hooked on it. And practically documenting an entire trip on the plane ride home? Yes, please! : ) Using the app on the trip home was made way easier possible since I didn’t take my DSLR with me on this trip. I used photos from my iPhone along with photos Randy and my dad had taken with their iPhones. Some of the quality isn’t as good, for sure, as it might have been with my camera but I’m OK with that. Sometimes it’s good to let go of capturing the perfect photo, enjoy the moment instead and capture the memory. And though I’m not great at photos with my phone (Randy is!) yay for the technology and ease we have at our fingertips.

On a side note, this trip. This was a dream trip. We had the best time. We took advantage of the mornings into early afternoon hitting the rides. And I do mean lots of rides. We’d break for lunch and then maybe another ride or two. We stayed on the Disney property so mid afternoon we’d go back to the hotel and to the pools. My dad and I would sit and relax in the shade (cheers!) while Lance and Randy would swim. Then dinner and wander around and enjoy one of the parks in the evening. So good. It was action packed yet relaxing, and just so fun.

Another side note. I’m throwing out a recommendation that was given to me just before our trip. It’s a website called Ride Max. It’s not an app but their web site has a mobile version and is super mobile friendly. There’s a fee to subscribe (less than $15.00 for 90 days) but honest to goodness, it’s worth every penny. It’s essentially a planning tool. You enter the park you’re going to, the hours you’ll be there, your breaks, the attractions you want ride and it sets up a custom plan. With minimal wait time! With the mobile version you can change your plan as you’re going about your day and it revises it for you right then. Plus there are tons of extra little tips specific to certain rides. Like for X ride when the line splits to the right and to the left, take the right line, it’s shorter and doesn’t wrap around the building. You get the idea. Oh, and another tip. The corn dogs at the Little Red Wagon in Disneyland. Ohmygosh. I’m not usually a huge corn dog lover but let’s just say I may have been there more than once. : )

Welcome to Project Life – Week 40! Does life get any better than this? I think not. OK, so maybe the week I’ll share next week when we were in Disneyland, the happiest place on earth. But seriously, the everyday holds so much goodness. Tangible memories that might otherwise be lost on a hard drive and stories that may be hazy as time passes documented through these pages.

project life 2014 – week 39

week 39 sneak

Welcome to Project Life – Week 39! This is the second of (now) over a month’s worth of my documenting using the Project Life App. That includes 8 pages of a trip we took to Disneyland last week. The ease is crazy good. I am starting to miss the smell of the paper and the feel of the physical cards in my hands. Plus there’s something great about putting pen to paper and having our handwriting in our albums. Time will tell where it all leads me. I’m an eclectic type of person so I’ll likely not limit myself to one way or another.

There really is no right or better way for us to be documenting our stories, our everyday. The key is that we’re taking the time to do something. Maybe it’s because we enjoy the hobby, maybe we want to leave these stories and memories for our loved ones, or maybe it’s because the process helps us slow down and realize the blessings of our everyday. It’s all good.

You guys. I might be converted yet. Welcome to Project Life – Week 38! I did all these journaling cards on my phone. On the go. At the spur of the moment when a thought hit me. Or laying in the comfort of my bed. Most of the photographs are ones I took with my camera that I downloaded to Dropbox. From there I brought it all together in the Project Life App. So easy. Everything was already done when I went to put it all together and came together super quick. For my physical album I printed the photographs as usual. Within the Project Life App I used the 4×6 collage templates and added 2 journaling cards to each of those. Printed those, cut them and slipped everything into the page protectors. I love the way the finished pages came out.

On a side note – I also love how easy it was to incorporate Randy’s and Lance’s perspective this week. I simply said tell me about your trip to Pierce (Randy) and tell me about your game today (Lance) as if you’re writing a journaling card. When they were ready I turned on the microphone (Siri) on the phone, and let them tell their story. I took a minute to format it and it was done.

Welcome to Project Life – Week 37! More of summer’s magic. Lots of photographs from Randy of an extended camping weekend away for the boys. And did you see that trout that Lance caught, awesome, right? : ) Simple, simple, as per my normal. Highlights and pieces of our story told through words and photographs. Our blessings documented.

Welcome to Project Life – Week 27! Backtracking a few weeks to the middle of summer. Oh sweet summertime. I miss you already. But I am embracing the change in the air and the goodness that fall brings with it. For now though I get to revisit the week that included Lance’s birthday. (Insert mom moment where she shouts “my baby turned eleven! ELEVEN!”) I’m blessed that I am the one that gets to spend these years with him.
